Course Description:

Qigong Beginnings with Barry McGee 

 

Qigong comprises of gentle body movement exercises along with breath-work. These are light movement and meditative practices which are connected to the Chinese medicine tradition and martial arts tradition. Such practices assist in building and increasing awareness of the energy within the body. Qigong is an incredibly accessible practice and attracts people from all ages and with varying levels of mobility. Join Barry as he shows us some of the fundamental techniques of this practice.

About The Facilitator

      • Barry took up Tai Chi and Aikido in 2000 and has been a continuous student within the martial arts of Tai Chi and Aikido ever since. He has a second degree black belt in Aikido and a teacher’s certificate in Tai Chi Chuan Yang Style and Qigong Yang style. He is very passionate about the benefits of these arts. He stresses that in this fast-paced life we live, these practices are becoming more and more important in terms of practicing rhythmic breath-work with slow movements.  He has taught Aikido in the Phoenix Dojo Crumlin from 2007 to 2019 and has taught Qigong in workshops over last ten years as a volunteer with St Patrick’s Mental Health Services.
