Men’s Programme: Exploring the Experience of Modern Manhood through the lens of the Wisdom Traditions with Brother Richard and Mark Kinghan

Join us for a unique 5-week men’s programme at the Sanctuary in November where we will explore the experience of modern manhood through the lens of the Wisdom Traditions. Incorporating body movement, meditation and perennial group and personal practices this programme aims to provide participants with steadfast experiences and tools that will help them traverse the challenges of living as a man in 2024.

 

Who is this for?

This programme is for men over the age of 18 who are interested in learning from practices (both personal and group orientated) and lessons from the wisdom traditions in order to engage with life with more depth. We encourage men of all ages and backgrounds to join us for this programme as the diversity of age and perspectives will enrich the experience for all.

 About The Facilitator

Brother Richard Hendrick

     

      • Brother Richard is a priest-friar of the Irish branch of the Capuchin Franciscan Order who authored the viral poem ‘Lockdown’ and the best seller Still Points: A Guide to Living the Mindful, Meditative Way. His second book, calming the storms: Meditation as a Path to Inner Peace and Happiness was recently published. For over 20 years he has worked to bring the insights of the Christian Contemplative tradition to greater public awareness, particularly with reference to modern Mindfulness theory. He has worked with the Sanctuary for many years developing many courses and trainings particularly for young people and their teachers.

       

      • Brother Richard co-created an innovative programme ‘The Mindful Warrior’ with Niamh Bruce, which addresses the void of initiation for young people in our society harnessing meditation, movements and insights from the wisdom traditions to empower young people to navigate their world with more awareness and reflection.

         

    About The Facilitator

      Mark Kinghan
        • Mark Kinghan began his meditation practice in 1984 with Vipassana and continues to explore various Tibetan Buddhist traditions under the guidance of renowned teachers. In 1990, he began practicing acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), integrating these healing modalities into his work.
        • In 2010, Mark contributed to The Sanctuary’s Mindful Hero Program, offering mindfulness practices tailored for men. He has also co-facilitated Nature of Men workshops, where he supports men in reconnecting with themselves and building resilience. Today, Mark continues to practice acupuncture and TCM, and teaches Qi Gong and Tibetan Nejang yoga, ensuring all his work is grounded in time-honored practices and lineages. His approach integrates breathwork, movement, and meditation to enhance mental and physical well-being.

      • Cancellation available 5 days prior to the event with full refund and credit will be applied for any cancellation requested up to 48hrs prior to the course or workshop.
      • In the event of cancellation from the side of the sanctuary due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness etc. refund or credit can be applied.
      • Please note: our courses will close for booking 24hrs prior to start date. Zoom details etc. are sent out once the booking has closed to ensure our community members have everything they need in advance of their course beginning.
