Breaking the Heart Open with Tony Bates

This workshop is Online

Workshop Description:

This workshop will be an opportunity to explore more deeply what Tony tried to convey in his book, ‘Breaking the Heart Open’: that the pain we encounter in our lives is a gift, a door we are invited to step through to grow. What causes the pain is not a gift; but when we can face it and deal with it, our lives change. We see the world in a new way. Our priorities shift. We are more compassionate. Our hearts break open in love.

Of course, there is a practical side to this: How can we ever be safe enough to be that vulnerable? How can we face the pain of loss, injustice, and betrayal without being overwhelmed? This seminar will explore how we can say yes to experiences and events that cause us great pain and how we, in turn, can enable others to do the same. We will also look at how our mindfulness practice can be an amazing resource to help us.
