Loving Kindness with Aurora

This workshop is ONSITE

Workshop Description:

“All joy in this world comes from wanting others to be happy, and all suffering in this world comes from wanting only oneself to be happy.”

-Shantideva-

Metta meditation, also known as loving-kindness meditation, is an ancient practice that originally comes from the Buddhist tradition.

It is said that the Buddha first taught the Metta meditation as an antidote to fear, as a way of overcome terrible fear when it arises.

The practice helps to cultivate feelings of unconditional love, kindness, compassion and goodwill and it involves repeating well-wishes and positive thoughts towards ourselves and others in the world.

Some examples of the well-wishes you might use in Metta meditation are:

May I be safe, healthy and happy

May you be free from suffering

May all beings be peaceful and filled with joy

Loving-kindness is powerfully transformative, and can change how we see and experience the world.

The practice not only enhances positive emotional states, but it helps to nurture our relationship with kindness and overcome the illusion of isolation, fear, loneliness and despair.

Loving-kindness is a heart meditation which can be practiced in an informal way and incorporated in our everyday life, in our home, at work and into our relationships.

Along with Metta meditation, we’ll explore kindness in depth and how this natural quality of the heart, which is always available to us, feels in the body.

The seated meditations will be interwoven with writing exercises and a short mindful walk, weather permitting.

You don’t need to have previous mindfulness meditation experience to attend this workshop, everyone is welcome to join.

About The Facilitator

  • After embarking on a journey of personal growth through coaching and mindfulness, Aurora attended the Mindfulness Based Living Course at the Sanctuary and became a qualified mindfulness meditation teacher in 2021. Aurora regularly runs online meditation sessions for people with intellectual disabilities and their assistants for L’Arche Kilkenny. Aurora has recently completed forest bathing training with Nadur. This journey has allowed her to reconnect with nature in a new, joyful way. She believes that our relationship with nature should be based on the concept of reciprocity; so, because we receive many benefits from the natural world, we need to make sure to give nature something back by protecting and preserving our biodiversity.
“Tune in with Nature. Only then you’ll know where you come from.”

Aurora’ deepest wish is to support others to reconnect with nature in a mindful and peaceful way.
